Pregnancy has changed the way my mornings look.
Some days I wake up energized, other days a little slower, but I’ve learned that how I start the morning really affects how the rest of the day feels. Instead of rushing straight into the chaos of the day, I try to build in a few simple habits that help me feel more awake, supported, and grounded.
Nothing about this routine is complicated. It’s just a handful of small things that help me take care of my body while it’s doing something pretty incredible.
Here’s the morning routine I’ve been trying to stick to lately.
I Start With the 30–30–30 Rule
The first thing I try to follow in the morning is the 30–30–30 rule. Within 30 minutes of waking, I aim to eat 30 grams of protein and pair it with 30 minutes of walking.
Getting protein in early helps stabilize my blood sugar and keeps my energy a lot more steady throughout the day. During pregnancy, I’ve also been more intentional about protein since it helps support everything my body is doing right now.
Some mornings this looks like eggs and toast, other days it’s Greek yogurt with fruit, cottage cheese, or a protein smoothie…whatever feels doable that day. If you’re like me, sometimes grabbing the Premier Protein Cafe Latte Shake is the easiest choice. I’ll drink this while I walk. It gives me 30 grams of protein and caffeine without the necessary carbs and sugars. I try to walk at 3mph consistently. It doesn’t need to be fast or intense. Just getting moving for about 30 minutes helps my circulation, boosts my mood, and honestly just wakes me up.
A nice neighborhood walk is good to do if you have the time and ability, but a treadmill walk for me usually does the trick.
Then I Use an Ice Roller to Wake Up
When I get back, one of the quickest things I do is grab an ice roller.
Pregnancy has definitely come with a little more morning puffiness than usual, and the cold roller helps wake my face up instantly. I’ll just roll it along my cheeks, jawline, and under my eyes for a minute or two.
It’s simple, but it makes me feel way more awake.. and honestly feels amazing after being sweaty from walking.
I Dry Brush Before Showering
Before I hop in the shower, I also try to dry brush.
Dry brushing helps stimulate circulation and just gives my body a little boost of energy and supports lymphatic drainage. I start at my feet and brush upward in light strokes toward my heart.
It’s one of those habits that takes maybe a minute or two but makes me feel more refreshed before the day starts.
I Never Skip Tongue Scraping
Another small habit I’ve added is tongue scraping.
It’s quick, but it makes a big difference in how my mouth feels in the morning. During pregnancy especially, I’ve noticed I feel better starting the day with that extra step in my routine.
It only takes a few seconds but leaves everything feeling much cleaner and fresher.
Then I Do My Simple Skincare
The last part of my morning routine is skincare.
Pregnancy skin can really change day to day, so I keep this part not too complicated. Usually it’s just a gentle cleanser, a Vitamin C Serum, PDRN, Peptide, and Sunscreen.
Nothing elaborate…just a few minutes to take care of my skin before getting dressed and moving into the rest of the day.
A Routine That Helps Me Feel Like Myself
Pregnancy can make your body feel like it’s constantly changing, so I’ve found that having a simple morning routine helps me feel a little more grounded.
It fuels my body, gets me moving, and gives me a few quiet moments before the day really begins.
Nothing about it has to be perfect. Some mornings it’s quick, some mornings I skip a step, but when I do follow it, I almost always feel better the rest of the day.
